JANUARY 11, 1991. NEW YORK CITY
It snowed yesterday. Maybe 4 inches. Last night it was nice walking in it. It muffles the sounds of the city, takes the edge off the dirty streets, the loud horns and sirens. Everything covered in a soft, clean, beautiful blanket.
The Grace Church on 10th and Broadway is my favorite place to go on a snowy day. The courtyard is so peaceful when it's covered in snow. I get lost staring at it. I went inside the church for the first time yesterday. It immediately put me in a state of reverence. The enormously high stained-glass windows and domed ceilings create an entirely different sense of scale. That was the point in building such magnificent churches. To inspire awe. It certainly works.
