Sometimes I wonder what I've learned in my life. If I had to distill it down to a short paper, what would I include? I imagine a world where it's tradition for everyone to create something like that. Like a senior thesis. Every ten years - when you turn 30, 40, 50 - you would write one, and get together with a group of close friends and read it. That may be a terrifying thought to some people. The thing about it that appeals to me is, once you identify what is essential and useful, you could discard everything else. Purge a lot of unnecessary thoughts and ideas. Then start your new decade with a lighter load. And hopefully some clarity.
