A revelation

When I was first learning guitar I remember how miraculous it was to put together some notes that sounded good. Inventing chords. Making stuff up. Just playing different bass notes against a couple open strings was a revelation.

They aren't any less miraculous - the simple ideas that sound good - you just get accustomed to them. And fool yourself into thinking that they're nothing. Not interesting enough. But if you slow down, get quiet, and really listen, you can reconnect with that experience.
