I was writing music for a video with my friend Max a while back, and I was getting all worked up about the fact that, given the assignment I was given, I didn't see how it was possible to make something that was going to be any good. Max, very calmly, said "Just let it suck." That had never occured to me. It was kind of a revelation. Sometimes the nature of a thing is to suck, so who am I to fight it? When I gave in to letting it suck, it came out a lot better than I thought it could.
